heavenly7
I have always wanted a Seven and decided the time has come, but other than liking the Seven, I know very little about them. I am interested in a 1997 model which was one of the 40th Anniversary limited edition run. It has a K series 1600 engine and around 16,000 miles. I guess it will have a 5 speed box. So assuming it is in good condition what should I pay. Having read other contributors comments I can see the market is tough at the moment but I really havent got much idea of what it should be worth. As a new member of the Club any other help would be so much appreciated. I should say I have no intention of racing the car, it is very much for fine Sunday road use to enjoy and keep for some time. robmar
Heavenly - do you know a bit more about the spec, this may help to determine what it may be worth also if you know the reg post it and the preious owner(s) maybe be able to let you know more about the car rob
Harvey
Heavenly, Think carefully about the "Sunday only" use. Once the 7 is in your garage you will be attending area meets, fast blats, track days and then hills/sprints. You will end up like lots of us,hiding bundles of credit card receipts from your other half, having caught upgradeitis. Glad to see that you have caught onto the duplicate postings to get your score up, how excited will you be when the car arrives? Welcome and good luck. heavenly7
Thanks robmar - the reg is P288 KCC - just one previous owner I gather. The present owner has been very helpful albeit I have not yet seen the car. I thought I had better have some understanding about what I was talking about before insulting the nice chap. I know that car has never been raced, just serviced by the factory and got the wet weather gear. I am lead to believe it is probably the five speed box but dont know this for sure as that information has just come from my chat with Caterham. I have seen a few other ads but for some reason this one has particularly caught my eye. Price is not an overiding consideration but I obviously want to pay what it is worth and I recognise this is a specialist market in which the members have way more experience than I!! I see the comments about maybe racing it, and wonder whether this is the ideal vehicle albiet I understand from Caterham it would be possible to fit their performance upgrade and they say the five speed box is better than the six for road use. In truth I have another hobby that involves my spare time and so I think I will be able to resist that particular temptation.

deeps
they say the five speed box is better than the six for road use Nothing against the car, just that statement. The 6 speed box is what the K's are all about Deeps Deep down you know it makes sense.
