Matt Sullivan
How do you tell what compound you've got on your slicks? I've looked at the sidewalls, and the only bits I understand are: 'For Racing Purposes Only' 😬 😬 '7.0x20x13'  Does it tell you what compund? I keep seeing people referring to the hillclimnb and track tyres. I need to get some more, and would prefer them to last longer than 5 minutes. cheers, Matt. Chelspeed
The ACB10's have a four number code which tells people who know the code what compound they are. I assume the slicks are the same. The compounds also have a code, for ACB's the so called hillclimb compound is A24, the race compound is A30 and the Caterham control compound is A33. The four figure code is, for example, 6894 which is the hillclimb (A24) compound ACB in 7/21 size. There doesn't seem to be any logic for size and compound so you probably need a check sheet to see what number is what. There was one posted about a year ago so check the archives. Talk to Paul Smith at BMTR, 0121 331 1122, ask for competition dept. Or Brian or Nigel at Avon Racing, 01225 703101, ask for Racing.
