Shad
Maybe I'm imagining it but I'm sure I read somewhere on here that AVO rear dampers are slightly shorter than standard Bilstein rear dampers? I've just been attempting to fit them while re-building the back end of the car and with the de-dion attached to a-frame and radius arms, resting on the chassis, the lower mount of the AVO dampers is below the 'through-the-tube' mount on the de-dion. Which is a bit of a bugger since I bought new extra long bolts to mount the dampers, and haven't had the old threaded mounts re-tapped after powder coating 😔 Where are other people mounting their AVO rear dampers?? Englishmaninwales
Do you have the correct length dampers for your type of dedion tube?
Shad
Not sure to be honest. I bought them second hand. My DD has both types of mounts but I was expecting to be able to use the through-the-tube mount. But the dampers are too long to use that mount, otherwise the DD would be forced onto the chassis rails when the dampers are at full droop. Big Dan
Hi Simon, When I fitted my AVO's they seemed not quite so easy to put in as the standard one's. In the end I jacked up the de-dion tube which helped alot, along with making sure the dampers were on the softest setting and fully extended.
