MacP
I am in the process of getting an EU2 VVC engine built by DVA. I need to find someone who can wire up the ECU and engine loom into the main loom. Car is a 21. I have the complete engine loom and matched ECU and 5AS that came with the engine (Rover 200). Can anyone recommend someone who could do the necessary work? Thanks
Racingshoe
Chris @ 7workshop is fully rebuilding my car. As part of this he is giving my wiring a good going-over. I can't recommend him highly enough. ----- Rik Robarts - C7 DNF the future's bright, the future's no longer orange though.here
jackb_ms
How much work is DVA doing on your VVC? Are you going for an "VVCR"? Jack Emily, The Very Yellow
MacP
Full rebuild, 1.9 Scholar, balance by Vibration Free, K06a starting with 160 head, lightweight flywheel, new type oil rail. Keeping plenum. Aiming for torque, flexibility and reliability over outright grunt. Going for uprated clutch at the same time as current one needs replacing. jackb_ms
I was thinking about the Scholar block What BHP and torque are you expecting? Are you keeping the VVC bits? Jack Emily, The Very Yellow 21 Edited by - jackb_ms on 2 Jun 2010 12:15:
rj
The loom off the Rover probably won't be any good. As far as I remember a connector for the ECU is missing. Both are on the Caterham engine loom, whereas only one is on the Rover - the other is on the main loom. /r
henry21p
One of our fellow 21 owners is one of the guys that helped design the rover mems and another is ex rover and is currently responsible for the electrics on things like the new Jag..... Drop me a line and I'll put you in touch. He did all the electrics for my 21 when I rebuilt it.
henry21p
(p.s. he did me a very neat "link harness" that patched my eu3 engine into my 21 loom and added a proper fuse box and relay setup to my car for some added reliability).
jackb_ms
Dave Maybe you could ask him if he could make another of the looms you have 😬. My electrics realy need to be sorted Jack Emily, The Very Yellow
henry21p
Jack - i started with an eu3 engine loom and the normal 21 loom and he did me an interface sub-loom and new fusebox etc for it. Yours is Eu2 and running an emerald - probably would need to be a slightly different setup... Not drastically different, but bespoke nontheless. jackb_ms
I know... I know Do you have some electrical drawings? for your bespoke fuse box? I would like to relocate them into the boot in one of the little alcove. Jack Emily, The Very Yellow

henry21p
fusebox goes on battery tray. best relocate battery to sidepod (powervamp bracketed to inner skin inside sidepod with cut-off keyabove). don't even consider putting f/b in the boot - bad idea.
