scooby dooby doo
how does the "users online" number work 🤔 http doesn't have a way of telling the server if the user is looking at the page or not. Does it just list the number of users who have made a request in the last 10 minutes or something similar 🤔 HOOPY CYCLE WINGS CUCUMBER

scooby dooby doo
ah - its secret only known to site admins is it? HOOPY CYCLE WINGS CUCUMBER
Site Manager
no, not at all. Most sites/servers have a default timeout of 20mins, so when a person (distinct IP address) connects to BlatChat I add 1 to a counter. Unfortunately, you can't reliably ascertain when someone has left your site as they don't exactly tell you, so you have to assume that if they've not used the site for 20 minutes, then they're gone and the counter is decremented That's all. scooby dooby doo
ok. i suppose the only way to make it accurate would be to have a login procedure before you can use the site each time. but that would be nasty and horrid. I'm happy now - cheers 😬 wonder what I'll find to ask about tonight at midnight if I'm bored again. perhaps I should go to the pub instead ❗ HOOPY CYCLE WINGS CUCUMBER
