Cooling problem

Recommended Posts

This follows on from earlier question about fan not coming on..

Have run the car again and noticed that temp climbs really quickly, 0-over 100 in about 1-2 minutes. At 100 the air from the heater is still coming through as cold, fan is not on, top of radiator is hot and bottom is cold.

I'm assuming this means air in the system, am I correct, and if so what is the best way to bleed the system?

Many thanks

Robbo

Steve

Look under search and 'cooling' there are a lot of threads that cover this. The one I remeber is jacking the car up at the front end and bleeding the system that way.

If that fails look under build diaries. A lot of people have experienced frustrating problems bleeding the cooling system.

Good Luck

Which engine? This makes a difference as K-series have the thermostat on the inlet side which means it is always immersed and the bypass circuit is external, which means the heater should show temperature within a minute or two of startup.

Is it really getting to 100? 0-100 in no time at all could mean that the sensor/gauge is giving screwed up numbers.

What happens after the first two minutes, or don't you dare go there?
