jakeandlizzy
I have searched for an answer, but anyone know where to get this here. It is kind of wobbly and makes noises when the engine is running. Figure the bearing is shot. Note that the pulley itself has edges on both sides to hold the belt in. I would have guessed it was this here but the pulley itself looks different, i.e. without the 'slot' for the belt. Area Representative Richard Price Posted April 6, 2010 Area Representative Share Posted April 6, 2010 Looks like yours is this pulley here, which uses a standard ball bearing (available from and bearing supplier). Unfortunately, if the bearing has failed, it's likely that the pully is also damaged. It may be neccesary to replace the pulley, but it may be possible to effect a repair. My similar pulley was worn in this manner, but I fitted a new bearing with a strip of shim steel and "bearing fit".
MADMALC
Caterham would be my first call. As I understand yours is the later type as mine is just a plain roller. If there is any wobble in this I would be very fearful of running the engine till replaced. I have a parts diagram of it and it is labeled 'Pump Belt Idler Pulley'. It is retained by an 'Idler Spindle Circlip' on the 'Idler Pulley Spindle' with final clamping with an 'Idler Pulley Nut'. Hope the above is of some help. jakeandlizzy
Thanks, that does help....now just need to find out what the bearing size is and I will buy one...no choice but to drive at the moment as my only car, but have the oil pressure as my main display on the stack
jakeandlizzy
OK, figured it out. For reference, the bearing number is 6203 LHA from NTN

jakeandlizzy
Yes, the pulley was shot (oddly the bearing left over in the pulley seemed fine) so I swapped it over to the original plastic pulley tensioner but I would like to get the alloy one again. Does anyone have one as a spare as they are pretty expensive here
Steve T
Slight hijack ; when you fit the alloy pulley on the bearing, which way round does it go ? There is a thick rim and a thin rim, which edge goes towards the front of the car ( facing away from the tensioner) ? Like to get this right before I press it in with bearing fit loctite. SimonArk
Hi, I have a brand new pulley on my shelf if you want it. Never used. Lets say £35 incl postage if you want it Simon.
jakeandlizzy
Steve, on mine it was the thicker part of pulley toward the radiator.

Englishmaninwales
Resurrecting this thread.... I replaced the pulley bearing and this is appears to have more play than the one it replaced....CC are out of stock of the complete pulley. Is the standard Rover air con tensioner pulley a direct replacement?
jakeandlizzy
I no longer run the alloy tensioner at all after a second washed out. I use this: and:
Englishmaninwales
What is the source of the plastic pulley in your picture? Is is a standard Rover item? Malcolm
jakeandlizzy
yep, just like this: here or a bargain here I have yet to find one that isn't attached to the tensioner though! Maybe a Rover dealer could help here. They do come off, however, so you can keep your current tensioner or just use the one that it comes with. ric355
I think I have a new unused Rover pulley & tensioner at home if you're interested - assuming it is the auto tensiorer you need (the spring loaded one). Drop me a blatmail if interested.
