Fitting Tillets. How do you stop the runner bolts spinning...

....What is generally regarded as the best way to hold the top of the bolt that goes through the runners while you tighten the nut from below....?

 

I can not see how you can put a socket on it, and an adjustable spanner is not really ideal. It has worked for 3 of the bolts, but I can not get it on the rear inner one...

Some people weld the bolts to runner....I just use extension upon extension and stretch like an orangutan............only did the job a fortnight ago too

Pull up on the corner of the seat above the bolt.

I have used socket cap bolts, so i can get an allen key in them whilst turning from underneath the key usually stays in the screw so after half a turn it hits the runner/seat and you don't need to have arms like an ape to hold it

 

I plan to live for ever...so far so good!!!

Cap head allen bolts and slide the seat to extremes for and aft to gain access,

Fixed runners If you don't get the runners parallel in both planes (that is, when viewed from above and from the side IYSWIM), then they are a pig to shuffle back and forth. Just wait until the floor starts sagging!

I used the flat head screwdriver approach.

However, it's a very poor bit of design work, why isn't the channel of a width of the head of the bolt?

My Tillett runners no longer adjust - I haven't needed to remove the seats since the build, but how the hell do I when the time finally comes???
