MusCat
Driving up the A43 at the weekend I was reminded of a job I need to get around to doing when my gear knob came off in my hand. I need a better way of securing it than the current copious quantities of electrical insulation tape wrapped around the gear stick over which the knob is wedged. It's ok in the winter but as summer comes along and cock-pit temperatures rise, the tape softens and the knob tends to come off. I’ve noticed some universal knobs come with plastic sleeve adapters of various sizes to suit all diameters of sticks – does anyone know where you can buy these on their own? I don’t need a new knob; I’m rather fond of my current one. Or are there other alternatives, the solution needs to be robust so it can withstand hard tugging. petefoster
Try drilling a small pilot hole in the gearknob, tapping it and inserting a grubscrew to tighten up the the stick, or 2 if you have a large gap to fill, if you do it from the dash side they won't be seen *smokin* I plan to live for ever...so far so good!!!
