terryp
I thought I'd better widen the search! The car needs to be a long cockpit and have a crossflow engine, the basic the better as I don't want anything too fast! For the 1985 to 1995 it has to be factory built Thanks a lot Terry Lotus Elan +2 S130/4 Hopefully Seven Soon! MusCat
Have you seen this? Being de-dion it's a long cockpit. No reserve so could be interesting to see what it goes for.
dickbowyer
I had a long cockpit, live axle (non de-dion) supersprint in the 80's and was quite comfortable at 6' 2" tall so are we sure this car is a long cockpit? MusCat
Yes I'm sure - de-dions were only ever produced as long cockpits. Short cockpits, or standard cockpits as they were known at the time, were all live axle.
terryp
Thanks! I'm on the case! Bidding finger at the ready Thanks again Terry Lotus Elan +2 S130/4 Hopefully Seven Soon!
terryp
Nope, although its factory built the person selling won't give any answers to my questions , just saying to come and see and make my own mind up. I think he doesn't believe that I'm a serious buyer (being in France) also he wants CASH on collection, no bankers cheque or bank transfer ,just cash. so its back to the drawing board again......... ☹️ Terry PS I bought my Elan blind! dickbowyer
After questioning seller. He says: "The Chassis no starts 5LC which apparently means 5 Speed Gearbox, Long Cockpit" Dick Superlight SV Duratec R400 Arch Inside 😬
terryp
Dick Thanks for that, I had a list of 10 or so questions to which he replyed "If you are keen you should come and have a look and make your own decision" So I said "Thanks for your reply but I'm afraid without the info I can't bid.Good Luck with the Auction.Terry" He said "your loss" Maybe I'm too old but I thought Classic Car people were all really nice, whats going on? terryp
Its a small world! I'm back to being after a LC pre 1984 (as later cars seem too much work!) then keep it for a few years on UK plates then change it to French plates. Hopefully one will turn up! terryp
Still looking I've found a 1985 short cockpit car (live axle) which I will hopefully try, not sure that I will fit at 6ft 0.5inches . Anybody have any idea? Thanks Terry Lotus Elan +2 S130/4 Hopefully Seven Soon!

Irrelevant
, not sure that I will fit at 6ft 0.5inches . Anybody have any idea? If you have problems fitting (i.e. if you're short 🙆🏻'd) then fit a lowered floor and appropriate seats.
