I have spent the last year adding road going equipment - Comfy Seats, Organic clutch, MOT stuff - lights, indicators etc etc. Just had full head service for £580 and re-shim taking it back to full A class standard. You must understand this car is like no other and has an outstanding pedigree and history. This engine won multiple races around the country including the Seven Cup and is famous at Castle Combe for outstanding performance. It held the record at Mallory Park for 5 Years. This car would be perfect back in a classic race league as it was very competitive. With the Formula 1 Lotus team back in with a fixed long term contract I think this car would be a good investment. The car has an extensive detailed history. I am looking for £16,995 I can be contacted on ghpthomas@me.com or 07515 887 278 More Photos here: http://gallery.me.com/ghpthomas#100027&bgcolor=black&view=grid George :) Edited by - GHPT on 26 Feb 2010 15:38:

andy couchman
Wow indeed. When I was about 15 (40 odd years ago!) I was navigator on a special stage rally in a BRM Ford Escort. We were disappointed to come third overall (luckily, my role was simply to point if I knew which way the road went and thought the driver didn't..). In those days the BRM engines were rare as hen's teeth and highly desireable - and these BRMs are not to be confused with things like the BRM Rover produced a few years back. If I had the dosh I'd buy it! Good luck - the car deserves a great home. Andy
KeithT
In Tewkesbury last year met an American who was admiring my 7. Told me that years before he used to own an ex-Le Mans Elan powered by a BRM-tuned engine. He eventually sold it for $8000! Love the 7. If only....... GHPT
8000 or 80,000? George :)
KeithT
He said it was sold years ago for $8000 before such things were appreciated. Suppose today it would be "worth" £160k. Can remember, about 40 years ago, debating the wisdom of buying an Elan Sprint from a delear for about £1100. Sadly didnt have the dosh.
Dave Rothwell
Bought an Elan Sprint big valve for £1600 in the seventies - still got it 😬 Member 6790 Superlight 0075 - K7 LYT
KeithT
Well done Dave. I could not have kept "mine" for long due to wife and kids etc. But would have been fun.

Etienne 7
Hi GHPT, When you say: Re-Chassis'd in 1996 with a Caterham Chassis, does it mean that you know have a new chassis number ? why not having taken a new arch lotus 7 chassis ? Thanks for your answers/explanations BRG 1600 Sprint Black Elise S1
Dave Rothwell
Ghpt - Sorry to have broken into your thread but at least it will keep you at the top Keith - yes it's gold leaf and a drophead - I think one of the last half a dozen - I share it with a pal.
