Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted February 25, 2010 Area Representative Share Posted February 25, 2010 I always loved the Eleven. The overall lines are so close to perfection. Bricol
Surely, it's a 2007 registration document . . . ? Bri
stephen grant
Weirdly not. Mine is the same; the V5C says that the year of manufacture was 1972, but was registered new in 2006. Remember, the Eleven uses the drivetrain, engine, gearbox, brakes, etc from a MG Midget and is issued with an age-related plate from the year of manufacture of the doner car. So mine is on a 1972 reg plate, but didn't require an MOT for 3 years after I bought it "new" from Westfield and when it was finally MOT'ed, it was "visible smoke only" coz it was on a 1972 plate strange, but true. stephen Edited by - stephen grant on 26 Feb 2010 07:44:

andy couchman
...and the Westfield kit used an original Lotus 11 to make moulds to get the shape right (I used to work with the guy who owned it and he lent it to Chris Smith). Andy
BenF
Just out of interest, can a tall guy like myself (6ft4) fit in one of those?
Martin Erhard
They're tight. I spent some time at show a few years ago trying to get comfortable in one of these. I'm about the same height. I thought at the time removing the seat and making a foam/ moulded version could be the solution to get some legroom. Would be interested in an answer myself. They just look stunning don't they. stephen grant
Unfortunately, I don't have an answer, coz I'm 5 ft 7" 😳 There's loads and loads more room around the arms in an eleven than a 7, but my feeling is the same as yours Martin; I think it will be tight, because it'd possibly be hard to get the seat back far enough. I honestly don't know though, because I'm the other end of the scale, as it were. Sorry, not hugely helpful I know... stephen
CHRIS TODD
I too have an Eleven and am 6 foot and have my seat forward by 2 inches. If I put the seat back to the furthest position I cannot depress the clutch to engage a gear. I drive with a straight leg slightly raised. My car however is from the 1980 batch but the chassis and body are the same as the 2005 batch. Hope this helps
BenF
Hi Chris Thanks for the info. I am not in the the position to buy an Eleven at the moment, but they do look fantastic and it would be amazing to have one as a "friend" for the Seven!
