Steve Brown
- change the oil sump foam baffle - change the cam belt on a 1.8 K series, used on road and trackdays?
Paul McKenzie
IMHO, you cannot do a clean oil change without replacing the foam since it retains about a pint of dirty oil and sh1t, so the answer is........not what you want to hear. stevefoster
The owners HB is says something like 20000 miles or 5 years for injection cars and 10000 miles or 5 years for carbs. (I can check exactly later). I did my VXC at 10000 miles / 5 years last year and the foam was in beautiful nick. No crap or bits in it at all. Less for carbs as more fuel gets into the oil. Leave the plug out so that it can drain over night and I found jacking up the pass side of the car helped get more out... I'm dry sumped now so don't have to remember. mav
here Cambelts recommended every 48000 or sooner if preferred. Hope this helps
CHRIS CLARK
Cam belts are not that expensive. Engine rebuilds are! Suggest 25,000 miles or two years. Also get a Piper (Cams) competition belt as it is about 3mm wider and approx 33 ukp.
mav
48k is as recommended by Caterham. on reflection, i think i would tend to agree with Chris
old captain slow
Must admit ... Change my cam belt every year but maybe that's OTT. I thought Caterham suggest 12K for the foam filter. C7 CDW
stevefoster
My cambelt is recommended for change 24000 miles or 5 years... A lot less than the OEM... I have discovered that the information given in handbooks varys over time as more experience is gained on real life of service parts... Interesting!
