Boot cover and tonneau cover rivit

I had this gem a few days ago whilst replacing all my popper bases (old and getting worn - result, my tonneau flew off at ~70mph).

If you can get to the back of the hole then it is easy to use something like an M4 countersunk and a nyloc on the back, with a washer. You will need to made the head small enough to sit within the popper base.

Alternatively, get the next rivet size up. I got a load with my rivet gun and where I couldn't get o the back of the hole I used the biggest size and ground don the head to fit and drilled out the popper base to take it. They are nice and tight again.

Personally, I think the ideal solution would be to fit rivnuts and then use short screws. Easy to replace then!
