millsn
Can anyoine with a focus engine advise how to get these off? I have a home made tool from the Ford dealer but it doesn't do the job. Is there a bespoke item I can buy? I can't hold the crank still
alextangent
If the gearbox is connected, then put it in gear? Or if not, you may need to jam a screwdriver or two in the flywheel start ring. Alex McDonald Loud, louder, loudest...
millsn
I've given up, puit it all back together and it'll find its way to Ford to fix it. this was so easy on my Mondeo zetec. Is this progress?
Bricol
Are you trying to get the nut undone, or is it undone and removed, and you are now really trying to get the pulley off? Bri
millsn
I was trying to get the nut undone. I hadn't even entered the "can't get the pulley off" stage 😬
Bricol
Impact wrench is your friend. I even undid one with a 12V power electric cheapo one as the car was nowhere near my compressor and proper impact wrench. Couple of years ago, so I could be wrong, but I seem to recall it does undo the normal way ie anticlock. Bri
Stationary M25 Traveller
Did the Seven crank nut with a 3 foot long breaker bar and socket, with an assistant in the drivers seat with foot on brakes, in gear and handbrake on.
Bricol
Problem is, with the Ford, the front wheel is off, the car is on an axle stand, it's not right high, the bumper's in the way, the engine mounts take a long time to wind up and come to a stop . . and now you've just run out of travel on the socket and bar . . and of course, as soon as you release it, the play in the engine/box and the engine mounts, unwinds and you're back to square one again. It's great fun . . . Bri
