List 1B Kumho Ecsta V70a tyres

The 2010 Blue Book doesn't list Kumho V70a tyres under either List 1A or 1B. My initial thought was that Ecsta 700 was a misprint as happened once before with Yokos but Kumho do have a 700 tyre so I assume that this is not the case.

 

I plan to contact Kumho competition department but wondered if anyone else knows the situation.

The sidewall of these tyres are marked V700 in a large font with V70a in a smaller font lower on the sidewall. So yes they are list 1b.

Thanks Mark, that's quite a relief. I hadn't actually looked at the tyres 😳

 

We've just been told that the French are insisting on Hans devices this year. Previously they've allowed us to run under MSA rules but are now going all FIA on us. We're hoping that we still might get another one year waiver but do you have any info on whether (when) the MSA are likely to introduce these mandatorily for UK club events? If you don't have a pre-drilled helmet (GPR advise that the helmet manufacturers will not allow them to drill helmets any more), the whole caboodle is likely to cost over £1000 with a new helmet, Hans device and modified harness fixing points.

There is no indication at present that Hans devices are being considered by the MSA for Speed events. If they do it will be another financial barrier that will possibly stop people having a go.
