Revs slow to return to idle

My x-flow is running on twin 40 Webbers and it has been noticed that the engine is slow to return to idle.

The car is fitted with double return springs which seem fine and the throttle cable has some slack in it when not in use. The throttle lever for the rear webber seems to return fully home but you can push the front webber throttle lever a fraction more after the return springs have done their job causing a further drop in revs.

It is likely that the carbs are not properly balanced at the moment (buying new tool tomorrow) but is this likely to give me the above problems?

Are the problems connected (?) or am I looking at two different problems.

If there are any carb gurus out their I would apreciate your thoughts.

you could pop the throttle cable out and starter her up on the throttle linkage by hand blipping.

Then she how she revs down. It could be a sticky cable or pedal etc. This test would show up or exlcude this.

You could have a problem with the internal return springs. Many take these out completely...

Balance is likely to give lumpy or reoccurant missfire and hunting as well.
