JAG Posted August 8, 2002 Share Posted August 8, 2002 I have just rebuilt the drum brakes on my MkII Escort axle and found most parts are still available. Wheel cylinders, shoes, springs etc... The only bit I couldn't get (for a reasonable price anyway) was the rubber gaiter that fits over the external handbrake lever, were it sticks out through the backplate of the brake. Tonycaterham Posted August 8, 2002 Share Posted August 8, 2002 Justin is correct as I have done the same, but be careful , Escort axles came with 8 and 9 inch diameter brakes depending on model and varying wheels cylinder sizes. So best take parts to a decent motor factors to ensure correct parts purchased otherwise you will end up making more than one visit, as I did!!!
