Area Representative marcos59 Posted November 25, 2009 Area Representative Share Posted November 25, 2009 I hope I will find the answer here (if not where ? 😬) MOT problem on my car because of a faulty rear brake cylinder. It is a strange one and definitively not look like a marina one... I desesperatly need someone able to recognize itto help me to find one. I start to think it could not be a marina axle but a Ford one... Brake cylinder pic here Thanks for your help 😶🌫️
jonboylaw
Any chance you can take a photo of the Diff nose so we can help identify the axle?, It does not look like a Ford cylinder to me, but hard to tell. Any markings on the back plate or the drum ? Cheers, Jon
elie boone
Nicolas, it's Ital the axle, the Ford brake cilinder is held buy 2 M6 screws and the handbrake lever sits higher than the brake cilinder. The brake shoes are the same so those can't be mixed up.
Area Representative marcos59 Posted November 25, 2009 Author Area Representative Share Posted November 25, 2009 Hi Elie. So it is a Ford brake cylinder on an Ital axle? Do you know from witch car it come from? With a quick look on eBAy I didn't find a similar one without bleed screw ...
Area Representative marcos59 Posted November 25, 2009 Author Area Representative Share Posted November 25, 2009 Elie, I think I didn't well understand your answer: Do you mean it is a marina one because on the ford one the brake cylinder is held differently? If it is problem is that a set of marina cylinder look like THIS with a bleed screw on each. and this very differentof one fitted to my car without blee screw like THAT
PhilK
Cant you just throw away the bleed nipple and screw in the 2nd brake pipe? Normally cylinders are supplied with the bleed nipple in case you are replacing the cylinder due to a problem with the bleed valve - but in your case I assuming the thread is the same then just remove it. elie boone
Lucas BWC190 is for Ital of 1980 to 1984 also for Spitfire 1500. There is always a bleed nippel with a brake cilinder whether you need it or not. the tread and concave are the same in both holes don't worry. The one's on the pic are correct just maybe a different internal diameter the the one's i have and they don't come with the rubber protection. Area Representative marcos59 Posted November 25, 2009 Author Area Representative Share Posted November 25, 2009 Thanks for all answers. Your right RH/LH cylinders seem to be the same. In fact car it stuck in a friend house at 500kms of me...so everything is much more complicated to see/understand and explain to my friend ! Thanks a lot
JampJ
Your's is the Ital one, as already stated, it comes supplied with a bleed nipple in case you need it.
