hendrixswhitestrat
Morning all Interested in collective views on the best immobiliser to get for a 7.....some guys reckon it's better to fit a discreet kill switch in the car, others that a full on immobiliser is better. Thinking of changing a few things on my car (without going into to much detail) but curious to see how others approach the subject of stopping some scrote getting their sticky mitts on our pride and joy HWS _________________________ Guitars, cars and whisky in the jar..what else is there ? Dickie Normuss
I have a Q/R wheel and an immobiliser VX HPC - Loud and proud here Adding power makes you faster on the straights. Subtracting weight makes you faster everywhere
6speedmanual
As above - immob and QR wheel. Plus, have been known to chain it round the chassis to a lamp post or to the trailer chassis (in turn chained to the tow car) They are ever so easy to trundle away 😔 Peter BRAWNGP green SUPERLIGHT FCITW 2009 😬
Myles
Immob (make sure it's one that is happy with a complete power-down - i.e. self-arms or remembers the state it was left in), removable wheel *and* an FIA cut-out switch somewhere (might as well make it sensibly-placed for trackday/competition use). The FIA-switch will also protect your battery from the dreaded effects of parasitic-load too (usually the immobiliser...) - and give you one more thing to drop on to the bar with your QR wheel... 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 Alcester Racing 7s Ecosse™ 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 Alcester-Racing-Sevens.com
Anton
And just in case some light-fingered gentleman does manage to take it - what about a tracker? LEO 3eggs Another Slightly Vider SeVen
Mick Day
Before you get carried away with this do remember the poor guy who had his removeable steering wheel stolen at Le Mans................they kindly left the car just wanted a souvenir! mattobrien
I keep a bike lock in the car to lock the removable steering wheel to the roll bar (all kept in the boot) if I have to leave the car when I am out. Otherwise the steering wheel lives in the house and the car in the garage, with another car parked in front of it.
Myles
Before you get carried away... Umm - but that's like saying 'don't leave your satnav in the 7 when you leave it. If you are such a forgetful numpty*, you might possibly deserve the results... *says he who accidentally left his QR wheel (and possibly immobiliser fob etc.) on the bonnet of his 7 in the car-park at Doune last year while trying to sneak in to a round of the British Hillclimb championship (I had a mechanics-pass waiting for me in the paddock...) 😳 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 Alcester Racing 7s Ecosse™ 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 Alcester-Racing-Sevens.com
Claire Voyant
tracker. Give me a good reason why not to have one. Or relax, remembering that the number stolen each year is in the low single figures (as far as I can see - based on the thefts talked about on BC)
