"K" Engine sticky stuff

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know where I can get hold of the sealant to re-seal the liners into the block, Surprisingly, the local Rover dealer said "Ugh?", try B&Q!!!

Also, what sealant do I use to refit the cam carrier to the head?

Many thanks,

Martin

Both are Rover parts...

For the Cam ladder - Sealant Kit GGC 108 - £10.66

For the liners - Universal Jointing compound GGC 102 - £4.79

Suggest you return to the Rover agent and explain the facts of life to the dumbo who served you....

Liners can be sealed with blue hylomar, available from any motor factors. Read the instructions regarding blue hylomar being a hazardous material...

Did you mark the liners for rotational position and cylinder before removing them? This is very important.

Thanks both of you, I think I might have some blue Hylomar.

As for the liners, I havn't actually removed them, they moved up the bore when the crank got turned when we took the head off so they havn't been rotated. Looks like I can re-seal them without actually removing them from the pistons, otherwise I'll have to split the bottom end and remove the rods, don't really want to have to do that though.

Is it hylomar on the cam carrier too?
