Changing the oil in a Harley Davidson

Before my mate does it, would anyone happen to know if it's OK to put Mobil 1 in a 1997 1350cc Harley bike?.I can't see why not myself but the thing is so agricultural I wondered if synthetic might be a bit exotic. Also what would be the best viscosity, and how do you drain the old oil what with it being sort of dry sumped?.Any advice very much appreciated.

I wasn't going to reply...........

I did a web search this morning, but I couldn't find a single thing for Harley oil spec. on the web.........

I've searched again and found this

You'll need Adobe to read it.

If I find any more, I'll put 'em up..............

Yep found more info here

I don't like being beaten............

As an ex-Harley owner (sob, sniff) I have to add my 5 cents worth.

The recommended oil is H-D 20W-50. The factory issue dire warnings about using anything else. The antediluvian air-cooled engine would appear to have different requirements to a modern water cooled auto engine. Be careful.
