Gingerbread Man
I have a working one (rev range), but the light doesn't work. I have tired a new bulb and a new holder to no avail. So I'm in need of a new Tachometer with working light! David
alextangent
Did you earth the tacho body when you were testing the new bulb? The earth is through the body iirc and not through the +ve/-ve power supply. Alex McDonald Loud, louder, loudest...
Gingerbread Man
The earth is not through the multi pin lead that plugs into it? If not, what lead am I missing? This could be my problem.
alextangent
It's a long shot and depends I suspect on the type of tacho, but mine (a 93 VDO) has a bulb that isn't earthed through the -ve side but through the case itself. I had a very similar problem after taking the tacho out to plug a megajolt in last month. I think that you need an earth through the retaining bracket & dashboard. Perhaps someone on techtalk could confirm? Alex McDonald Loud, louder, loudest...
