CageyH
Heated or Standard? Autowindscreens may be able to get a non heated version made. Only dead fish go with the flow....!

GordonW
Hi Paul, I've got a heated screen, no surround.
drB
caterham will sell non-heated glass (for track use only) which is much cheaper than a new heated screen, also http://www.classiccarworkshop.co.uk/ supply non-heated glass (again only strictly legal for track use) buy car, race car, win
James_Russell
AFAIK you'll pass an MOT so long as it is laminated and has a kite-mark.
Rich N
Paul, as above, this will sort you out. Nobody's ever found a reason why it's for track-use only except for being much cheaper 😬 and having no heater elements. ...but anybody who can cut glass locally to you should be able to make the right shape without too much bother, but the CaterhamParts price isn't bad. --=[Oxford7s.net]=-- [subscribe: List-subscribe@Oxford7s.net]
LesG
Paul, I've just got my original frame back today, with a brand new plain windscreen FITTED for £60 + vat. I can send you the company's phone number if you're still not sorted with a new screen. I did ask the fitter why the CC plain glass would be rated for racing use only, and not MOT compliant, and his best guess was that the laminate wasn't thick enough for road use, apparently there is a minimum legal thickness. LesG
Rich N, No probs, 07875 380203, Andy is his name. I should add, I have no financial interest in this company.
Z3MCJez
I understood that it was an MoT failure due to not having the ability to clear the front screen of mist. Tintops usually have a fan, but as the Caterham is sans-fan, the heated screen does it instead. Or is this a myth? Jez Build Photos
Grubbster
Jez - true for SVA purposes but I don't think it is needed for MOT - nobody has ever looked at mine for a means of demisting.
Rich N
Indeed... It's not in the handbook.
