alextangent
AX block on Ebay. It'll be interesting to see what this ends up going for. If anyone's looking to go Zetec, selling an AX based engine could make up quite a bit of savings. Went for £825.10. Wow. Alex McDonald Loud, louder, loudest... Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted August 20, 2009 Area Representative Share Posted August 20, 2009 There may be lots of Classic Race people for whom this would be particularly valuable. Molecular--Bob
Perfect time for this as i can use it to guage what mine will be worth when it comes out in 2 weeks time. Would i get more as a complete engine or should i split it up?
DaveMorris
ISTR that AX blocks fetch better money if they haven't been bored at all - i.e. still a the correct bore for a 1600cc engine. But definitely worth watching the price.
alextangent
One on ebay in May this year. Fetched a grand as a complete engine/5spd etc. Alex McDonald Loud, louder, loudest...

Irrelevant
Fetched a grand as a complete engine/5spd etc. That will break down into a lot more that a grand - you'd easily clear £1K just from the carbs, dry sump system, and clutch/flywheel. So fully broken down, it's surely going to be over £2Ks worth.
alextangent
Now standing at 1 bid for the starting 600 pounds. 3 days to go. Alex McDonald Loud, louder, loudest...
woodfell
I sold my AX xflow engine a few months back for 650.00 which did not include carbs and probably needed a rebuild fairly soon - which I told the buyer.
alextangent
As it says. Great price; that's more than a fully dressed brand new Zetec! Alex McDonald Loud, louder, loudest...
thesheep
My 1700 Xflow engine is like this: Dry sump Pistons - Arias forged Crankshaft - standard, but tufftrided. Bearings - VP2 material Conn rods - standard but polished and lightened Big end bolts - Cosworth TA0083 Guides - bronze Valve seats - not suitable for unleaded - use a lead substitute additive Ports - fully gasflowed Valve springs - competition duplex Valve retainers - anodised aluminium Made by Roger King working at SPR Engineering in 1990. Engine in good shape but probably needs the valve retainers changing - doesn't like going over 6200rpm right now. Gearbox: 4 speed straight cut Quaiffe So if was to take this out and put it on ebay, I guess I could get a reasonable price for it... how close could I get to the cost of putting in Raceline Zetec and Type 9 5 speed box instead? On the other hand I quite like the engine as it is (gearbox is too noisy though). -------------------------------------------------------- Caterham7Junkie.com Edited by - thesheep on 27 Aug 2009 13:08:36 Edited by - thesheep on 27 Aug 2009 13:12:
