Chris Cardwell
Currently have a Garmin nuvi 360, which is brilliant, used in the 7 and tin top. Covers europe, provides a blue tooth link to the sat nav and sometimes used on foot in London. Speed accurate at 500+ mph in an aeroplane, altitude not so good. The other main benefit are speed camera warnings - so far has prevent at least one fine - and made aware of speed cameras when the sun your face, being distracted by another 7s approaching in the opposite direct. Call that 6 points saved so far . . . say £60 Even though not specified as waterproof have driven in torrential rain with the garmin getting covered in water. The cheapest near equivalent is the nuvi 1240 at around £160 - excluding a blue tooth connection for hands free mobile use. Also available with a larger screen . . . Its possible to save £160 during three years, no speeding fines, arriving at interviews on time, getting watches services at a specialist rather than via the high street shop . . . Ian B
Zumo 660 is quite deep compared to say a nuvi 765, so won't be as easy to slip into your pocket if leaving the 7. I deliberated between a Zumo 660 and a nuvi 765 for use in the 7 and tintop, and went for the 765 in the end - pleased so far. Ian B
Forgot to say nuvi is not classed as waterproof, but clear plastic bags are cheap 😬 Ian - Slightly Vider SVelte SuperVeloce model 😬 - Joint AR for North Kent
Mick Day
I was tempted between the Zumo & Nuvi 660 back in 2007. I bought the 660 because it had more of the functions I would use. I reckoned that plastic bags were cheap & if I trashed it I could always buy another more up-to-date Nuvi. You really should look to see what functions comparable Zumo's, Nuvi's & Tim-Tims have & decide based on that decision. After my trip this summer any new sat-nav will have to have the ability to save more than 1 way point!
Damdy-Cash
interesting topic. I like the Snooper Sapphire as it is quiet small. Has anyone experiences with that? Use is EU navigation and radar warning only. cheers Volker German Sevener in Scotland
blade_runner
I've got a Zumo 500, its not bad, but the tomtom one I use in the tintop is far better at navigation, saying that the Zumo is waterproof and also has a fuel gauge facility, which are perfect for a 7.
