Replacing Brake Pads

Steve Campbell

Recommended Posts

One thing to note (seeing the Performance Braking plug from Mick) is that they (Dave Frith?) at PB recommended that discs should either be replaced or cleaned very, very thouroughly (with emery-type abrasive - but not actually emery - I'll have to look it up, doh!) if you adopt Pagids and have previously used 1144s.

He told me (when I got my Pagids from them) that most other pads were 'compatible' in that the Pagids would eventually clean off the old pad material that becomes one with the braking surface - for some reason, Pagids reputedly never quite manage this with old 1144 discs and never reach their potential as a result.
