Titanium7
I seem to be plagued with unwanted noises! Followed manual for first time starting, plenty of pressure then reconnected the enertia switch and bingo the engine started after a few turns Unfortunately I have a very loud tapping coming from the top of the engine. Left the engine running for a minute of so but still there. Also ensured the correct amount of oil was in the engine (4.5l for a wet sump standard k 1600). Any ideas? 6speedmanual
Hard to say without hearing the noise. First impression is that it could be a hydraulic tappet not self primed with oil pressure. Presume the tapping is engine rev speed related? Peter BRAWNGP green SUPERLIGHT FCITW 2009 😬
Titanium7
Yes, speed related. Will it evenyually prime itself?
Mickrick
Did you crank it untill oil pressure was up, before starting?
6speedmanual
According to first post, I understood 'plenty of pressure' to mean Oil Pressure. Tappets should self prime when installed in an engine that (hopefully) has been bench run at the factory. Just wonder if one or more of them a bit sticky as it is a very long time since Rover built that last batch of K series. Titanium7
Problem solved, went back and re-started and tapping had gone! Patience is a virtue!

CharlesElliott
We sometimes have that issue in race cars, standard fix is to rev the car to 6K RPM and hold for around 10 seconds. I hesitated to recommend that to you though 😬 Charles --- Triple E Racing - build diary and race reports
