Matthew Willoughby
I've just picked up my new car and can't wait to give class 3 a try. A cheque went to Mel Wiliams yesterday for some Kumhos and I'm hoping McMillan Motorsport will be able to give it a thorough going over in time for Loton. I hope you Class 3 chaps are as friendly as my chums in Class 1 - it has been a pleasure competing with you for the last 3 years
Clawhammer
Hi Matthew Glad to hear your joining us, the more the merrier We're a very friendly bunch as long as you don't mind having your engine bay checked for throttle bodies, ported heads or dodgy ECU's 😬 😬 What is the new steed then? Area Representative Nick Chan Posted August 8, 2009 Area Representative Share Posted August 8, 2009 Matthew, Good luck with class 3 although I don't think luck comes into it
FlymoFraser
Matt We'll miss you but hopefully you'll still be able to talk to us from your loftier position. Must admit it's a bit of an extreme way to get faster times than your Dad at the same event "what is it" Its an R300 isn't it , they seem to fit into so many classes these days 😳 Best of luck though I don't think you ned it. Matthew Willoughby
Robin - it's an old Roadsport A racer - 1.6 supersport, dry sump, 6 speed, lsd, lots of stone chips etc etc. When you see my times you won't be too interested in my engine I assure you. Neil, where's the stirring smily? You're right I don't need luck - just a dollop of talent.
mikes
Welcome to Class 3 - I am sure you will find it fun with all that extra power and grip, just don't forget to scrub the tyres before pushing on the first run 😬 You don't want to end up going off on your first 3 runs Mike
david nelson
It nice to see Mike telling you about the extra power. Jon Ward
Good luck Matt Nice move, and if it's the car I think it is, you scored yourself a bargain Jon
Matthew Willoughby
Hi Jon, when are you coming out to play again? Is this the one you were thinking of here? If so, yes, she's now all mine
Jon Ward
Matt, I'm allowed out to play as soon as I've finished the kitchen (SWMBO asked me if I could remember in which year I started it, and I was only one year out ). And yes that's the car I mean/should have bought. It's much less fun with 200 bhp - you don't have to rag it to keep up. See you at Curborough...as a spectator ☹️ Jon
Matthew Willoughby
I've decided that I really quite like Class 3 I had a fantastic day at Loton yesterday and other than a couple of minor hiccoughs the car was brilliant. I can't wait for Curborough now Edited by - Matthew Willoughby on 23 Aug 2009 10:42:
Mark Durrant
Matt I thought you said that you did not intend to explore the limits of the car but you obviously changed your mind by the way you exited Loggerheads on the last run Mark D
andysteele
I was wondering which car you had taken, the live timing said Classic, but then the times appeared to tumble! 1999 VX1600 Classic - andysteele.net - picasa albums - driving in marigolds
Matthew Willoughby
Mark, That idea went out of the window around the point that I lined up for my first timed run 😬 Loggerheads had me worried for a moment but by Triangle I was still 2 tenths up on my previous best. I really need to work on my starts though - the high 1st gear and no torque low down caught me out every time.
