F355GTS
I am buying an ex race SLR currently fitted with a 4-2-1 and 6" box which apparently is putting out around 104dB although I don't know if this is at full revs or 3/4. The car is going to be used exclusively for trackdays and idealy I need to get it down to 94dB ( usual trackday test - 3/4 revs, 1m from exhaust and at 45 degrees) What would you buy?.....noise reduction is more important than cosmetics! rgrigsby
94dB??? that's a bit quiet isn't it Mark? If you want it to be really quiet I'd go for a 7" extra long 'Goodwood' Techcraft silencer from the Se7ens workshop, it's HUGE but it'll keep the car quiet and is easily repackable. rgrigsby
You should be OK with a 7" box, Andy Checkly(?) has an SLR with a 7" Caterham (I think)silencer and he does Goodwood quiet days regularly without problems. Just wondering if you may need some kind of airbox as well to reduce the induction noise, although I'm not sure how bad it is on an SLR. Mark Durrant
Mark I have just had the Goodwood silencer fitted by Chris Wheeler at the 7 Workshop and can vouch for the high quality of product, instalation and significant reduction in noise. My car is a 1.6 K Series SuperSport. I have not had the noise measured yet but Chris is of the opinion that I should be OK, even for Goodwood.
