robmar
before you go down the list 1a route - there are lots of rumours around the MSA scapping list 1a / 1b and just having an any road legal tyre for next year not sure if that is likely and how it would effect our classes could all be just rumour but Ihave herad it on numerous web forums and conversations rob
Area Representative Richard Price Posted July 21, 2009 Area Representative Share Posted July 21, 2009 Miles, The current list1a tyre of choice is the Stunner Scudo, in either 195/45-15, or 195/50-15. If you want to stick with 13" wheels, then Yokohama A539's in 185/60-13 are also in use. However, as Rob points out, I'd be careful buying tyres just to compete. What events do you plan on tackling? Its worthwhile checking to see how event regulations and classes may change. What spec is your car, and what tyres do you currently have?
Mark Durrant
Whatever, changes are made to the MSA regs regarding tyres it will not impact on our championship for next year as our regs will use the list for 1a's from this year. This years regs state: 'Tyres to be listed in 2008 or 2009 MSA Technical Regulations Competitors: Permitted Tyres [C(e)] List 1A only. Maximum tyre width 215mm.' I will continue to do track days this year and set the car up and have fun The car is a 1.4k supersport 6 sp with Toyo 888's Hopefully next year I will do some sprints Regards Miles
paul jacobs
"Maximum tyre width 215mm." What happens with regard to the CSR Mark, on which the standard set up on the rear is 245/40/15? Paul J. Can you ever have too much power?

Adrian Williams
Or put another way Paul, CSR's are in class 5 and are OK on standard rubber. Adrian
skydragon
although I don't think it will affect L7 club events as per Mark's comments above...Looking at page 38 of the latest version of motorsports now which arrived today (summer 2009) it looks like rule 79 is now changed to incude both list 1a and list 1b tyres, effective as of 1st Jan 2010. Yippeee.... the beginning of the end for the compulsory usage of list 1a tyres in road modified Hillclimbs/sprints *smile* Edited by - skydragon on 29 Jul 2009 22:42:
Mark Durrant
The change in the regulation will mean that Road-Going Production Cars and Road-Going Specialist Production Cars will not need a cage to compete if running on list 1b tyres which is good news for classes 3-5 in our championship. This does not mean that a separate list will cease to exist for 1a and 1b tyres so there will be no impact to classes 1 & 2. Mark D
