Racing Snake
Think you might get a better deal from BGH Geartec Shame as i just got mine delivered And if you go for the ally cover you get a dip stick and can check level and fill from the engine bay Top customer service too plus delivery for £30 Mad Hatter Racing - Feel The Duralight R Torque 😬 Carl Van Baars
madmaninshed
Thanks Carl, I hear excellent reports about both companies. I will check to see if the ally cover version from SPC has dip stick and filler as you describe. One more order has now been agreed so we only need two more now - not bad in a day! madmaninshed
Yes, Steve can sort the filler and dipstick for me, and delivery (next day ) is just £25. Are there just two other people looking for a new 5 spd box with all new gears and good ratios for a duratec or zetec etc......
RiF
Keep with the SP gearbox. Excellent quality and build service. Had lots of problems with my BGH until Steve at SP rebuilt it properly. Always wished I had gone with one of his boxes in my last 7 but got talked into the top range BGH instead. RiF Building a real super SUPER 7 with a V6 😬 😬 😬.For Build Pictures and LOTS of Carbon or try CA07BON for Henrietta's

thesheep
Not too knowledgeable about gear boxes. Can you tell me what the difference and benefits are of this type of gearbox over, say, the 5 speed Type 9 box that SPC sell for £200? -------------------------------------------------------- Caterham7Junkie.com
alextangent
200? The cheapest BGH they sell is 495. here Alex McDonald Loud, louder, loudest...
thesheep
I'm looking in a recent edition of Low Flying at the SPC advert and it says Type 9 5 speed with long first gear is £200 (fitting extra). But I did think that was an excellent price! I guess it is a mis-print and they left off the '1'. Damn. -------------------------------------------------------- Caterham7Junkie.com
thesheep
It's in Low Flying March 2009, page 20. Or maybe it's a reconditioned one. -------------------------------------------------------- Caterham7Junkie.com
7 wonders of the world
I understsand that h £200 gear kit is using reclaimed Ford gears that Steve has tweeked to make the ratios more 7 freindly, I know he showed me an early set and wes looking at different ways of fixing the new gears etc compared with what is currenrlty being used by BGH and RR etc. Steve was also looking to have NEW gear clusters made full helical as apposed to the semi helical Quaife versions so I assume these are the NEW kits, might be worth Madman just clarifying this as I'm sure it will help get the numbers up My dealings with Steve have always been excellent so what ever he builds you will be first rate Too young to be old !
