Baby Bucket
Hello All, I have a smallish air compressor and I wondered whether it was better to leave the drain valve open or closed when not in use. Any suggestions Thanks Peter
stevefoster
open, although there will be little air circ and it will rust inside anyway but it will take years and years and years and years before it rusts through.... Bricol
And when it rusts, it'll block up that little stress crack at the back of the tank that you could never get to properly with the welder! Or is that just me? Bri
Graham Perry
I would drain it regularly. Did ours last year for the first time in 4 years and it was..... ahem ........half full of water ! Strangely it works much better now
Asklepios
Leave open. Correct to assert will rust open or closed ,but the high ppO2 with a "full" cylinder, will accelerate the process. The corrosionn allowance is 10 years, so check the date of manufacture on the cylinder plate.
