JoukoP
Hi Just trying my luck before biting the bullet and buying new items, if you have standard wet sump Caterham bell housing for VX HPC or Pace/SBD sump pan like here for sale, I'd be very interested. EFA
Use a Caterham sump pan.The Pace SBD ones are not designed for a 7, and as a result do not respond well to the inevitable grounding. One car belonging to Steve Mell had ist chassuis near destroyed when the sump hit a drain cover.
JoukoP
I have the SBD ultra low line sump installed and yes it's damaged due bottom contact and now leaking slightly when stationary. Maybe I'm clueless on sumps but it's a bit hard to me to see why the design wouldn't be suitable for Caterham? Mine hit a rock or tree stump on a small dirt road to a friends summer cottage and the lhs mounting ear that connects to the bell housing was snapped away along with a piece of the bell housing. Over here in Finland there's a 80 mm minimum of ground clearance to pass our MOT, so it should be hard to get bottom contact on tarmac. When I damaged the sump, my car was still set up by the previous owner and the clearance was under 65 mm at the back of the sump with negative rake angle and two passengers to make things worse. So, if anyone has either of these parts for sale, I'm still interested. Cheers Jouko
