Andrew Willoughby
My Seven's speedometer has started behaving very strangely! At the start of a blat it works perfectly well, reading as accurately as any Caterham speedo 😳, but after a while it reads lower and lower, the needle wavering and refusing to go above 40 mph.  Any ideas as to whether it's likely to be the speedo drive or the speedometer itself? Andrew Willoughby
Sorry - should have said it's a 2003 ex-Academy car, electrical speedo. Â Andrew
Doug
Give JDO instrument engineers a call. I've just had my speedo repaired by them on a BC recommendation. Superb service with speedo repaired in 48 hours for £58 all in! 'Have you any idea what it's like to have the wind rushing through your hair!' Andy Whittle
My speedo started to do this and bounce around; it turned out to be the sender unit on the gearbox. I am Leg End...
FlymoFraser
refusing to go above 40 mph.  Never seems to do that on a Sprint Andrew 😬  R287 Mobile Jaffa Cake- It's black at both ends with a smashing orangey bit in the middle here
Andrew Willoughby
Thanks for these - I'll certainly give JDO a call, Doug. Strangely, it's never been a problem on a sprint, Neil. We Saga sprinters have such a job remembering which way the corners go, there's not a lot of time to look at the clocks! 😳 Andrew
pburt
I'm pretty sure JDO only deal with mechanical speedos. I'm also pretty sure I've read other threads on here to the effect that the sender can move out of alignment and consequently give erratic readings. Try doing a search on TechTalk. Peter Burt
