bl0498
Hi, My 2000 1600K has an LSD. How do I tell if its an AP Suretrac or a ZF type? Quite often when the car moves off from rest there are little clattering from what sound like plates of the LSD. Also do I need to treat them differently - oil/servicing etc? The car has standard diff oil at present! Many thanks, Brian
EFA
Brian, To identify you have to remove both driveshafts and peer through the centre: An open diff has one planetary gear shaft visible when you look through the driveshaft "holes" A ZF plate type has two planetary gear shafts visible in an X pattern A Quaife or an AP diff has a hole right through the middle!
