Drumster
Just fitted an ZF LSD to the car and Phil at R&RT said it would probably need 900ml/1l. Just poured the whole contents of a litre bottle in and it's not dripping out of the filler. Everyone seems to suggest topping a diff up until it overflows. Just wondering if you need to do that when starting with an empty diff IYSWIM? shn7
Yes. Must be nearly there so add a bit more. Steve. Sussex (West) AR Not forgetting Percy the Polar Bear who recommends Puddle Pet Care
Drumster
Hmmm. The other reason for the question was that I only ordered a 1l bootle on t'internet and that's all gone 😳, so nothing left to top up with.... millsn
I had the same problem, annoying but not actually an issue once you buy the required amount. Be advised though that you need very little more to get there!
Drumster
Typical, I knew I should have bought more.............. Richard, that's very kind. perhaps we can do a swap for your fastest Indian DVD 😬. I assume that the diff oil you are using is LS90 as advised by Phil? jj48
Am using Castrol B373- an approved LSD oil and used for many years. Phil said it was ok to use this oil. Richard Sussex Swede R400
Drumster
Richard, I guess we have different diffs hence the different recommendations from Phil; mine is a ZF and I'm guessing yours is a Titan? I'm using Silkolene BOA 90LS, so not sure if that should be mixed with your Castrol? I'll speak to R&RT tomorrow and text you at some stage. Thanks. F355GTS
Chris I've always run B373 with a ZF which is fine however it is listed as race only. For mixed road/ track the LS is possibly the better product Mark
Drumster
Just spoken to Phil, he confirms that 1l is absolutely fine Chris Alston C7CAT 1800 Supersprint R248 ....and then I jumped in
akakubi
A note of caution though. While the amount going in is probably the required one, the one that the diff will spit out from the breather hole is quite a lot. You will be okay on the road, but if you take it to the track (or drive closer to the limits), the diff will start spewing oil all over the driver's side wheel and suspension - very messy. ☹️ You may want to consider designing some form of a catch tank. I used an empty plastic bottle and a silicone hose. No more mess.
