Front Springs

Ian B

Recommended Posts

I'd like to stiffen up the front a bit (2001 SV with 'standard' springs on adjustable platforms) to try to reduce the tendency to dive into the road and hole the sump on 'lumpy' roads *eek*

Any thoughts on what to look for, and where to source a good deal?

Thanks.

If you stiffen up the front without adjusting the rear as well you are altering the handling balance will almost certainly add understeer. Instead of the car diving into the road surface you may find youself driving straight on into hedges *cool*

Depending on your driving style it might not be a problem, but a chat with Gary before you do anything would be wise

250lbs might work on track but for rural driving will have you bouncing across the bends!

Ian I have a few sets of springs including 200 and 250 lbs - you are welcome to have a loan...

250 fronts

orange anti roll bar

level wishbones

std rear springs

18>22mm rake with the driver in the car

medium rear antiroll bar setting

or put on 175lb rears instead of the progressives and reduce the rear rake slightly

no worries *biggrin*

*confused*i am just trying to get an opinion about the front suspension,i have to replace the dampers and want to do the same as Ian B.

I have to order all the parts with spring adjusting ....

then there is a lot of sheep in my region and.... *rolleyes*i dont want kiss one of them

for 250lb in front what is the correct spring rate at the rear?

for a vauxhall C20XE....

is someone can tell me the rate of a rear standard progressive spring *confused*in my seven they are red...

and what about bilstein M0 or M1 type?

in france some 7 owners have tell me about damper code M0 M1 maybe the M1 bilstein damper is well rated for a 250 lb spring *confused*
