Peter G
So how do you get the old bushes out then? I took the A frame out last weekend, and the little bu@@ers wouldn't move when invited to by a suitable hammer and socket used as spacer. And what about the one in the de dion? Do you need to remove the whole tube? And finally, is getting the new ones in a similar trial? Toe down, nose up the windscreen!
alextangent
The centre bushes should just fall out. The outer bushes require a draw bolt, a suitably sized socket, a washer and a nut and a lot of elbow grease to get them out. Put the bolt through, add on socket (which has to be pretty deep) then the washer, and tighten with the nut. This should draw the bush out. Try applying heat on the A frame outside of the bush if it's really tight. Alternative; burn them out with a blow torch, and hacksaw (carefully!) the retaining tube out of the frame. I've used all three methods, and none is that easy. (Edit: 3? 2... ) Getting the new bush back in can be a challenge too, as you need to make sure you don't lip the bush tubes. I used washer/bolt/washer/nut trick to draw them back in after chamfering the bush outer edge, then freezing the bush and heating the A frame, to get it started square. Damdy-Cash
I have changed them just some days ago. Heat up the A-Frame part of the bush very gentle, not to hot to avoid burn the paint. That helps a lot and make it quiet easy. Same to get them in again, just some heat before to the A frame. cheers Volker German Sevener in Scotland
millsn
Ask them nicely, take it to Arch and get them replaced there. Or buy a new a frame
Peter G
Great, I'll try all of those, but not necessarily in that order! The new bushes have rounded ends to make insertion easier, I guess if I freeze them first it'll help. Toe down, nose up the windscreen!
