tweeky
Im fitting silicon hoses and its going ok apart from the thermostat J hose with is so tight I feel its going to split the hose. Is this normal or have I got a problem? Ive tryed lubing the ID of the hose and the thermostat housing. Im going to try warm water on the J end this afternoon. Wrightpayne
Tweeky I had a similar problem - The T/S housing has a redundant o ring groove where the j hose fits on. I cut this off, leaving some of the lip left though I chamfered it off a bit. Cannot remember the exact detail so have a look for yourself. It is tight though!! oooo eeeeerrrr!! Support Team c7trp Posted May 9, 2009 Support Team Share Posted May 9, 2009 I removed O-Ring and then it went on with a struggle. I ended up taking the 'stat housing off the car to fit the hose in the end.
Rich N
Silicone hoses here too.. but I've only ever been able to do this by removing the housing.. maybe I have fat hands.. I do have Jenveys which get in the way though.. --=[Oxford7s.net]=-- [subscribe: List-subscribe@Oxford7s.net]
Brucey
I fitted a Caterham silicone hose set about 2 weeks ago. My J hose was the worst one to fit but I managed it after a bit of a struggle and 2 cups of coffee! Remove the o ring from the stat housing if still fitted. Use a lubricant I used a bit of fairy liquid. Get the top bit of hose started, carry on pushing and use a small flat bladed screw driver to guide the bottom over the stat housing lip. It's a bit fiddley but I did it from underneath (car on 4 axle stands) on my 3rd attempt! be careful you don't push it off again when fitting the other end! Good Luck, Bruce.
