how often are people changing their cambelt?

Hi sweeney

I would change within 5 years (I change mine every 3 ) also check condition of verniers as they do wear ❗ I normally do all belts at the same time D/s ,alt,cam may be a little overkill,but would rather be on the safe side 😬

thanks Mark, i have had several k series caterhams but seemed to have developed a mental block on how often to change the cam belts.then i last night i read an old article in evo magazine re SLR's saying change belts every 2 years!

 

i think i was assuming every 3 years

i also change my DS scavenge pump belt every year. Overkill, probably

I changed mine after 5 years ( and 13,000 miles )

 

Got it done by DVA who fitted some verniers at the same time

The recommended mileage on the BDR with standard pulleys is 4000 miles. Yes, four thousand miles. As I don't misstreat the engine or race I stretch that to 6000 miles and change cambelt every other oil & filter change.

 

I could invest in a set of later profile pulleys which would extend belt life but, what the heck, it gives me something to do twice a year.
