richard smith
I am thinking of removing the redundant mount at the front of my 1.8k series engine. is this easy to do? is it just a case of undoing the bolts or does this result in a big hole? if so can i just make up an aluminum plate to cover it? or does it need sealing or something. help appreciated. CageyH
Yes, yes, yes, yes and no. If you don't fancy the DIY option, I believe Caterham sell a plate to cover it, which you rivet in place on the cambelt cover. Only dead fish go with the flow....! 7 wonders of the world
There's a template for the plate you need on Oily's website, simply make one up in ally sheet and rivet it in place job done ! Too young to be old !

Mick Day
Spooky this......... Just got my car out of hibernation & as part of the pre-season service decided to check the cambelt tension.......& noticed........ the blanking plate had cracked. The small bit that tucks into the bottom of the cambelt cover had a split in it. So made another one but will check this a little more frequently as it's difficult to see behind the oil tank. Cambelt tension was fine by the way. Template for blanking plate available here, bottom of the page.
