Dickie Normuss
So that's where that plate is. VX HPC - Loud and proud here Adding power makes you faster on the straights. Subtracting weight makes you faster everywhere
Dickie Normuss
Interesting that the cam cover insert says Vauxhall, I thought they all said Caterham Vauxhall? And what's that shield above the primaries for? VX HPC - Loud and proud here Adding power makes you faster on the straights. Lotus Boy
Ric, Probably unlikely but this car might be a 'starter kit' car and someone has sourced their own engine - hence not having the Caterham-Vauxhall plug cover. If that is the case then the chassis number would have NS which means Engine Not Supplied. Chassis number would tell everything. Not sure if you could buy a genuine HPC as a starter kit. 500 miles would worry me though. All that standing around wouldn't have done the car that much good. Nice looking car all the same and a great plate too. Cheers Dave
I reply to every thread
Nice - but you'd want to change a lot to make the best of it. My car looked like that 10 years ago! 😳
Gridgway
In a low flying interview IIRC, Jez Coates said of the VXI something like "it was the least inspiring 7 we built"! Didn't Caterham put some VXIs out with reconned engines around that time? Or were they carbed? Graham
Pete-B
Is it me? on photo No 5 surely it shows the steering on the nearside but in the other photos it clearly shows a righthand drive car. Peter
Gridgway
er that be an engine bay chassis diagonal I reckon. Graham

Lotus Boy
Just as I thought. You can see the chassis number in the HD version and the number starts SDKRDKANS The K is Kit, the A = Alternative chassis type (no idea what that means but if it was a genuine HPC then it would be an H) and NS = Engine not supplied. That would certainly explain the non Caterham plug cover on the cam cover. Dave

TANGO7
Enquired about car some time ago when advertised on private sale. Understand kit purchased from Caterham less engine then built with engine obtained from Calibra, hence Vauxhall on on insert.
