front wishbones

Hello !

I am restoring a live-axle car, and have been offered front lower wishbones off a '97 VX DeDion car.

Are these identical to the 74-on(trunnion) live-axle std. width front bottom wishbones ?

Cheers ! - Karsten

The de-dion front wishbones I believe are different to the live axle ones. The later de-dion cars have uprights which do not have trunnions. Although you can fit the the later uprights if you wish. I also believe the mouting is different on the bottom, both onto the car and the uprights

The live axle uprights with trunnions, is a standard Triumph part, where as the de-dion uprights were made for Caterham.

In addition to the upright being different the wishbone will not fit onto the chassis as the live front end has a small spigot over which front of the wishbone slides (with rubber bushes) and the De-Dion uses the fixing bolt in shear to hold it on place.
