CJS
Having hit a speedbump too many, it seems that the silicon sealant on my dry sump (Caterham's own on a 2.0l Duratec) has now developed a small leak (thankfully the sump isn't cracked though). So how hard is it to remove, clean up and re-fit? I have heard mixed reports... Thanks in advance for any advice Chris
Pat the Plumber
i'm having the same problem. only mines a wet sump. getting it off was a pain as it was locked on solid, all the bolts were out and it wouldn't budge, until more brawn was used. not too difficult though, when you have somebody helping , who has done this sort of thing before i'm now in the process of fitting the new one, as mine was well and truly cracked. MADMALC
It helps to get the front or if possible all the car as high up as you can. This makes access for cleaning the face and re sealing easier. Ramps are safer than axle stands. DO NOT JUST USE A JACK. S7MAD

CJS
Thanks all (especially for the hint on those hidden bolts (my car is full of these)). I am informed that becuase of the position of the pump you can't remove the caterham dry sump without affecting the timing which (again I am informed) is an absolute nightmare to get right again (no key). Is this right does anyone know? Chris
