k80rum
Does anyone happen to know if the Emerald uses pulse width-modulated injector signals to control-limit the injector current? I don't think it does, but I'm not sure.. I didn't want to bother Karl if the power of Blatchat knows the answer Darren E K80 RUM Website and Emerald maps library Home of the long-term, supercharged Duratec project
Rob Walker
Yes put simply the longer the duration of the pulse the more fuel is passed by the injector, the fuel pressure should remain constant.
DohNut
I am not sure that was the question asked. 🤔 I read it as what limits the current during the "injector on" pulses. If you are using resistored injectors then it might be constant voltage regulation, it not then it will probalby be current regulation which is likely achieved with PWM, but dont know definitively. Unless you meant the answer that rob said which I agree with. Nick
oilyhands
I know that if you use low resistance injectors it is necessary to run an in-line resistor or the injector driver will overheat and turn itself off. Oily
Rob Walker
The injector current draw will be dependant on its own internal resistance, Hence Oily`s answer regarding series limiting resistors being necessary if injectors with less than 12ohms are to be used. So in answer to your question No the injector current is not controlled by pulse width or amplitude modulation.
