Racing Snake
I have got hold of some 7" by 13"front, 9" by 13" rear R500 wheels I should be running in class 5 with a 2.3 Duratec engined R300 Can anyone give me a pointer as to what would be the best rubber to clad these marvellous rims in and tyre pressures ? Nigel Fox
You will need Kumhos 215 and 235 widths supplied by the very helpful; Mel Williams 13 Tawelan Pontargothi Carmarthen SA32 7NQ His phone number is in the book, delivery to your house is free
Racing Snake
Am i right in thinking the 215's will not fit under the standard front mudguards ? Mad Hatter Racing - Feel The Torque 😬
Support Team Shaun_E Posted March 12, 2009 Support Team Share Posted March 12, 2009 Correct. You will either need CSR style wings or, as I have done, fit some RiF wider wings. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing
robmar
Mad Hatter -I may have some DITP/K9 wide carbon fibre front wings for sale these will be fine
robmar
forgot to add they where made with the same molds as RiF so same design from my understanding
Racing Snake
Will they fit on the standard brackets ? Mad Hatter Racing - Feel The Torque 😬
Support Team Shaun_E Posted March 12, 2009 Support Team Share Posted March 12, 2009 Yes. Mine are fitted on 13" race wingstays but they will fit on the normal 13" stays just a bit further from the tyre. robmar
can't really say mileage wise as not done that much, but they seem fine the times I have used it on the road...also not had much wet road experience
Racing Snake
Has anyone tried some 245/50 R13 CR500 Avons on their 7 ? Mad Hatter Racing - Feel The Torque 😬
Mark Durrant
MadHatter Please be aware that the 245/50 R13 CR500 is not eligible for the Speed Championship in class 5 as the maximum width is 235 unless the wheel/tyre is fitted on a CSR. Racing Snake
Thanks Mark I was aware of that, just fancied more rubber for road use but dont want to go ott and ruin the handling Mad Hatter Racing - Feel The Torque 😬
Support Team Shaun_E Posted March 13, 2009 Support Team Share Posted March 13, 2009 I drive to all events and had the soft Kumhos fitted for most of last season - for track days and road I used CR500s. This year I have bought some hard compound Kumhos for track days and general road use and will fit the softs for sprint events (including the drive there). That way I can get the car set up once for road, track and sprint. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing
