Which rivets for floor?

Some of the rivets have pulled through the drivers side floor pan so I need to re-rivet the floor.

1. What size rivet do I need? (length and diameter please).

2. Are steel rivets the best bet?

3. Can you get rivets with a wider head as the holes in the aluminum floor have become enlarged where the old rivets pulled through?

4. Is there an easier way than drilling of removing the old rivets? I don't really want to use a chisel as that might damage the powder coat.

Thanks,

Shaun

1. CC sizes; I think they're the longs (4mm, 5/32")

2. yes

3. possibly, but most rivets will expand enough to take an extra .5mm or so.

4. if you're using a chisel on the floorpan side, that's ok, and it won't damage the powdercoat. I use an old woodwork 1/4" chisel. Fettle the edge under the rivet, swift & sharp knock and they're out. Ali to ali rivets need drilled, you'll bend the holes out of shape otherwise.
