jackb_ms
Hi I just had my car MOT'ed and it failed on handbrake and headlight being to high. Tried to explain to the guy that the height of the light varies according to the weight at the back but he didn't get that. I will adjust them especially for him. Regarding the hand brake, is there a way of adjusting it? Or is it a case of finding a MOT station which understand Caterham? Stationary M25 Traveller
Assume you have the centre handbrake lever ? If it travels too far, release the lever so it is flat on the tunnel top, then lift the rear of car and secure on axle stands. In the middle of the car, you will find a plastic knurled knob on the handbrake cable. Hold one part and unscrew the other part to release it, then use this adjuster to take up the slack in the handbrake cable. When you are happy, screw the locking part up tight against the adjuster. Don't over-adjust it so the brakes drag - check while car still lifted.
