Rear Suspension / Height Adjustment

BM

Recommended Posts

I have been trying to adjust the ride height on my car, but with it having been on the road for a few years I can not get any of the height adjustable collars to come undone.

Either I am being a plonker and doing it wrong, or they have seized together.

Has anyone got any suggestions how to free them? I don't have a proper C Spanner and have been using wd40 (not helping),drill bils and a hammer (though how hard can I afford to hit?)

If worse comes to the worse should I take the whole unit out the car to do it? (would prefer an easier solution!)

Any advice is much appreciated.

When adjusting are you trying to move them both together ?

Hold top one, then undo bottom *thumbup* used a stubby screwdriver on mine (they go in opposite directions ) also take weight off car (jack front up) can make it easier to undo .

They act like lock nuts when together to stop them moving .

That's how I did them on my old car 😬

Some of them have a small grub screw in the collar that digs into the treads. If your's have two collars which lock together, you're likely ok...but if only a single collar, look for the grub screw.

Once you get them turning, you can usually just turn the spring.
